Less than Cheerful Gift
by Rick Boxx
December 15, 2011

A generous man has a friend who calls frequently requesting financial help for a variety of causes. Due to their long business, and personal relationship, he finds it difficult to say no.

One of those requests came at a stressful time. He agreed once again to help, but out of frustration he put some conditions on the gift. He wondered if God gave him any credit for that coerced gift.

2 Corinthians 9:7 teaches, "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

God wants us to give His money cheerfully. If you are giving out of guilt, or compulsion, it is not God's best. Pray and ask for God's will and respond accordingly.
