God, Where are You When My World is Shaken? | Psalm 139:13-16
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
God is Pro-Life. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Though written as poetry, our passage today clearly explains God’s intimate involvement in life from the first moment of conception to the last breath. The Sovereign God is the Creator God forming our “inmost being.” The Sovereign God is the Intimate God knitting us together with the first threads of life. The Sovereign God is the All-seeing God with his eyes fixed on us from the very beginning. The Sovereign God is the All-loving God ordaining all our days for us “before one of them came to be.”
The only response to the work of the Sovereign God is praise—“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made….” Praise God for His work in your life. He is always present with us!
Father, your Word says, Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Help us be those who believe truth deeply and act on it appropriately. In Christ’s Name. Amen.
