My Complaint | Psalm 64:1-6
Todayís Passage: Psalm 64:1-6
Key Verse: Psalm 64:1-3
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers. They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
If you determine to follow hard after Jesus, you will have your share of enemies. The world will try to pull you in with its magnetic allure. The flesh desires what the flesh desires. Satanís mission is to make you fall flat on your face. Sometimes, your ìenemyî will be a person intent on destroying Godís work in your life.
David had his share of enemies and he was not hesitant to complain to God. The wicked conspired against him. With razor sharp tongues they shot ìcruel words like deadly arrows.î They waited in ambush and charged from cover when he least expected it.
Forget all of todayís talk about ìfairness,î ìequalityî and ìtolerance.î Cunning hearts and minds are intent on injustice. When the attack comes we can do what David did ó voice our complaints to God. We need to understand that the threat to destroy us is real. Prayer complaints are not Christian whining. They are expressions of real life and requests for protection.
Father, we voice our complaints to you. There are those out to get us. They attack with rumors and innuendoes. Their words aim to do real damage. They are shrewd and take us by surprise. We cannot handle the enemy on our own. We pray with David ó please protect our lives and reputations from the threat of the enemy. In Jesusí name. Amen.
