Know-It-All

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” – Psalm 139:1-6

THINK

What if what we say, where we go, what we do, what we know and even what we think are already known? But who could know all of these things? The verse above tells us that God is the one who knows all of this about each of us and more. You could say that He is the ultimate “know-it-all” in our lives in the purest and most righteous sense. There is nothing in our lives that can shock or surprise Him because He already knows it.

This all-knowing attribute of God is called omniscience and can be difficult to wrap our minds around. If we aren’t familiar with Him and the incredible love He has for us, this could cause concern. But don’t let it concern you; let it affirm you. Gain confidence in the fact that the all-knowing creator of the universe loves you so much that He already knows everything about you and wants you to know all about Him too.

PRAY

Ask God to help you know Him better and who He has created you to be. Thank Him for being omniscient so that He can understand you even when you may not understand yourself.

ACT

Now that you are aware of this omniscience of God, be mindful of your thoughts and words today. If there’s anything you would change ask God to help you make that change.
