"Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19
When Jesus set out with twelve ordinary men to change the world, He told them that He would make them “fishers of men.” What He was saying to them was that the mission He had for them was going to take work. It was going to take tenacity. It was going to take them out of their comfort zones. But the results would be absolutely supernatural.
If you are a follower of Christ, you’re called to be a fisher of men. You are called to work hard to reach those around you who don’t know Him. You are called to get out of your comfort zone. We’re comforted by Christ, but we should be willing to get uncomfortable for Him. Are you willing to do what it takes and to fish for those around you?
Thank God for the person who “fished” for you and brought you to understand a relationship with Jesus. Now, pray that God will empower and embolden you to fish for those around you.
As you think about those in your life who need Christ, do something to get outside of your comfort zone and to reach them. Text them with an invitation to join you at church this weekend. Call them and let them know you are praying for them. Or take them out to lunch to have that conversation you’ve been putting off.
