I am righteous!
“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
We love to label ourselves. Sadly, though, many of the labels we use are nowhere near the truth. We consider our mistakes and mishaps, and assume we should go by “broken” or “unusable” or some other negative label. But have you ever considered the fact that in God’s eyes, through Christ, you are righteous?
If you feel less than confident about who you are and how God sees you, that might be because you’ve been the victim of “identity theft”. Satan is both a thief and a liar. He may have tried to convince you that you are less worthy than who you really are. He may have stolen your true identity and left you feeling bitter. But there is good news.
No matter where we have been, who we think we are, or what others might say, we can become righteous in God’s eyes because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross! Jesus lived a sinless life, died a sacrificial death and rose from the grave, so that we can become righteous in Him.
If you have never put your trust in Jesus, you can do that today
. You can become the righteousness of God by simply asking Jesus to enter your heart and submitting to Him as Lord.
If you have been a Christ-follower for some time and yet still have doubts, pray for God to show you the truth that you are righteous through your Savior, Jesus.
Write out today’s Scripture and stick it on your fridge, in your car, or your place of work. Remind yourself each day, “I am righteous!” If you have today, or recently, accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, tell someone about it!
