DEVOTED

Read: Colossians 4

Key Verse: “Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” - Colossians 4:2

Have you ever been devoted to prayer? What would that look like in your life? We see tremendous devotion in our culture: commitment to watching certain television shows, drinking coffee, gaining the next level with video games, following sports teams, and spending time on social media are some examples. Have you ever intentionally stopped a hobby or habit to spend additional time in prayer? Any urgent situations in your life that need additional intercession?

Being watchful includes seeing the needs around you, aware of the spiritual condition in people’s lives, sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and avoiding laziness. Being thankful will keep your heart healthy, your mind fresh, and your relationships positive. Christians are called to be leaders in prayer, not simply watching news headlines and being discouraged. There is nothing wimpy about dropping to your knees; it is where you will find real power.
