NOT BY CHANCE

Read: Ruth 2

Key Verse: “So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech.” - Ruth 2:3

Ruth took the initiative, gleaning in the fields and searching for food to bring to Naomi. God blessed Ruth by leading her to the field of a distant family member from Elimelech’s clan named Boaz. The phrase in this verse: ‘As it turned out’ is a playful reference to God’s Sovereign hand. It was not an accident that Ruth landed in the most favorable field in the region. God was providing for her and Naomi! Have you ever looked back in your life and realized God’s direction and surprise blessings? How many times has God placed you in just the right situation?

People try to undermine the glory of God by saying that events and blessings happen randomly or because of luck. They try give credit to fingers crossed or knocking on wood, or their lucky star; but all of this is wrong and tries to take the credit away from God. When a blessing is given to you from heaven, give praise to God. Tell other people about how He has provided. The universe is not by chance, the human body is not by chance, the sunset is not by chance, your blessings are not by chance. They are by choice, and the reminder of God’s grace and compassion!
