Read: Zephaniah 1

Key Verse: “The great day of the Lord is near-near and coming quickly. Listen! The cry on the day of the Lord will be bitter, the shouting of the warrior there.” - Zephaniah 1:14

The prophet Zephaniah was the fourth generation descendant of king Hezekiah. From a lineage of royalty, Zephaniah was familiar with the court circles and was a contemporary of Jeremiah. The approaching judgment on Judah was the initial announcement from God through the prophet. The day of the Lord was coming and the people needed to repent. How has repentance been a blessing in your life?

When Christ returns, all people will be held accountable. There will be, however, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1) because they will be welcomed into heaven. Followers of Jesus will be held responsible though in terms of how they lived for the Lord during their time on earth. Are you making the most of your opportunities by serving God now? What accountability during the week will help you prepare for that great and final day of accountability. Avoid sin now so that you can experience the freedom of Jesus and not be hindered in running the race for Him!
