NOT TO US

Read: Psalm 115

Key Verse: “Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to Your name be the glory, because of Your love and faithfulness.” - Psalm 115:1

The world wants to choose an employee of the month, the most valuable player, the entertainer of the year, the most beautiful person, the top business company, the gold medalist, the valedictorian, and the champion. We live in a culture where some people are unduly criticized and, at the same time, other people are elevated on a pedestal. What awards, honor, and praise have you received?

The psalmist deflects the glory to God. Your existence, abilities, achievements, and success all come from the same source. Some people forget, others are blinded by pride, others try to steal God’s honor. It is important to verbally give praise to the Lord. Handling success is a true test of character. It is not politically correct to mention the name of Jesus in some contexts, but it could not be more accurate or positive. Who you thank the most reveals who your God is.
