NEW DIRECTIONS

Read: Psalm 78

Key Verse: “Like their fathers they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow.” - Psalm 78:57

It is ideal when parents set an example for their kids to imitate. God has provided parents for the purpose of helping to protect, guide, provide and love children. When children see their parents’ love for God, they are drawn to the Savior. What happens when parents, however, make bad decisions? Children are affected and often repeat the same sins as they grow older. Children need to realize they can learn from a bad example and set a new course for future generations.

In what areas of life are you creating a new direction that is different from your parents: 1) Following Jesus? 2) Forgiving people? 3) Choosing sobriety? 4) A marriage that won’t end in divorce? 5) Handling money well? 6) Peaceful in conflict resolution? 7) Breaking a pattern of abuse? There is the power in Jesus’ name to break free from any trap. When you blaze a new trail, remember to stay humble because it is the grace of God at work in your life.
