FORSAKEN?

Read: Psalm 22

Key Verse: “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning? - Psalm 22:1

In times of intense pain and disappointment, we can feel like God has forsaken us. Have you been able to relate to the words of David as he penned this psalm?

Unemployment, death of a family member, chronic physical illness, experiencing the break up of a long-term relationship, starvation, and many other circumstances can test your faith. Where will you turn?

Jesus spoke the words of this psalm as He was crucified. The sins of the world were upon Him, and He was forsaken by Father God. Jesus can relate to us in our feelings of isolation. Look beyond your situations to the One is faithful.

Not only can Jesus empathize with you, He also completed the penalty for sin so that God will never leave you. Remember that the Holy Spirit is in you and the Father has a covenant relationship with you. Focus on facts more than feelings.
