MY ROCK

Read: Psalm 62

Key Verse: “He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” - Psalm 62:2

Rocks are symbolic of 1) Strength 2) Dependability 3) Protection. Relationships fluctuate, stock markets are constantly changing, feelings are fickle, and opportunities come and go. God’s promises are all guaranteed. God is never overmatched. God always existed and always will. God will never leave you or forsake you. You will never find anyone as reliable as God.

Rocks are a great and encouraging metaphor, but rocks are dead. Jesus is the Living Stone! He gives life, gives hope, gives stability. David writes that he feels like a leaning fence, a man who is cursed by people, assaulted, and weak on his own. Deep down, however, David knows he will not be shaken because he has found the rock stronger than himself. His soul finds rest in the mighty love of God.
