THE WOUNDS TEST

Read: Psalm 38

Key Verse: “My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away.” Psalm 38:11

David experienced physical illness; he wrote that his back was filled with searing pain. His wounds were festering and loathsome, his strength failed, his heart was in anguish, and there was no health in his body. Have you endured a time of pain and sickness?

The worst pain, however, might have been the indifference from his friends. In fact, they avoided him and distanced themselves. Granted, many people don’t know how to respond when someone is suffering. It is hurtful to reject someone because of their physical condition. Wounds can reveal who you true friends are in life. Remember who stays close to you when you are swimming in pain. Praise God for devoted friends and remember to pursue people in their time of need.
