STILLED

Read: Psalm 131

Key Verse: “But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.” - Psalm 131:2

How do you still and quiet your soul? Inside of your body, there is constant activity through digestion, circulation, observation, and respiration. You live on the earth that is continually rotating. Your culture moves at a very fast speed, racing and chasing after every type of goal and desire. The world tells you to run harder and pump caffeine and sugar into your system to keep up with the pace.

David reminds us of the value of being still and seeking and listening to God. Quiet your soul when people are bombarding you with requests, when the conflict is gaining tension, when your future has a major amount of uncertainty, and when your schedule is becoming too full and busy. Your soul needs rest, peace, nourishment, and humility that all come from God. Be intentional about your stillness and the refreshment that comes when you step off of the world’s treadmill.
