Genuine Humility-Part 6

March 25, 2015

James 4:6 (b)- “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

God is apposed to the proud. This means that He works against a proud person. He works with disciple to guide us away from being “self-centered”, to get us back to being “God-centered”.

James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves…”. My friend, there is only one person who can humble you and humble me and it is the indwelling Holy Spirit of God living inside of us. When we choose to say, “no” to ourselves, and “yes” to God, Mr. Humility Himself lives through us. He is Holy, and He is Humble. You cannot discipline yourself and you cannot posture in such a way as to have the appearance of being humble. You and I cannot posture, discipline, or work hard enough to live a holy life; that is wrong thinking. Right thinking is this: In and of myself I cannot be holy. I am not humble.

Balanced living, holiness and humility come from the indwelling presence of God as we choose to say, “no” to ourselves, and “yes” to God. That is genuine humility.
