Genuine Humility-Part 5

March 24, 2015

Philippians 2:5-8“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”

My friend, aren’t you glad that Jesus humbled himself? If he had been arrogant, like most of us are, He would have never gone to the cross. He would have lived His life wanting to be worshipped in such a way to bolster something within Himself, but He has need of nothing. As children of God, we are called to genuine humility, and when this truth is not known, we have a wrong belief that we need something other than God and what God has provided for us. There is nothing we need outside of God’s provision because God and what God has provided for us is all that we need. The Christian life is Jesus Christ Himself.
