Genuine Humility-Part 2

March 19, 2015

Romans 12:3“ For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

Christians either think too highly of themselves or they think too poorly of themselves. Both of these can be traced back to the fact that we were born in Adam, and we have what is called the indwelling principle of sin, or the “flesh”. My friend, if you take the word “flesh” and drop the “h” and turn that word around backward…you have the word “self”. For the most part, if we are not controlled by God we are controlling ourselves, and if we are not controlled by God we are not becoming more Christ-like, we are becoming more selfish and self-centered and we do not know what is wrong with us. The problem is that our minds have not been renewed in certain areas. We need to continue to walk with God and being in the Word of God, so that these things that need to be renewed in our minds and in our thinking and in our processing, which affects our feelings, our walk, our countenance, will continue to more and more push off the old and the outshining of the Lord Jesus Christ will come through all the time.
