Christian Friendship-Part 7

March 11, 2015

John 15:13“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

We see in our day that there is a lot of tension in the hearts of people. There is this inner emptiness wherever you go. Even among Christians, there is this feeling of emptiness and loneliness that causes us to isolate ourselves from developing friendships and relationships with other believers. My friend, there has to be a change in our hearts before we can be a good Christian friend. In other parts of the world, we hear of people who literally lay down their lives for their brothers and sisters in Christ. Though this is not what we are experiencing here, we can live lives of self-denial. We do not have to live selfishly, we can learn to put others first and in so doing those feelings of emptiness and loneliness will be lifted and you will feel that sense of joy that comes from having godly friendship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. This is why we are to love God and to love others.
