The Person That God Uses-Part 5

June 23, 2015

Philippians 2:12-13“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”

The Apostle Paul is telling us that we must work out our own salvation, but we do not have to work to be saved. Why? Because salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit of God and it is by God’s grace and His grace alone. But as believers, we are to live our lives with practical holiness. We are not working to maintain our salvation, we are not working to be saved; we are working out the salvation that is already inwrought within us. There is a conscious decision we must make to bring ourselves in line with God’s will for our lives and to work out our salvation. If we want to be a person who God uses then we must ask God to search our hearts, and we must chose to surrender our wills to His will.
