Are You Drifting?

July 15, 2013

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.” - Hebrews 2:1

Have you ever watched a boat drift from the dock or shore? You have to be patient because it doesn’t happen all at once. The drifting process is slow but sure once untied.

Are you drifting like this right now in your intimacy with God? Christians can begin drifting at any moment.

We must pay more careful attention to what we have heard so that we do not drift away. We have a tendency to drift towards that which we have focused our attention.  What is your focus on right now? If there is something taking God’s place, even if it is a good thing, it is an idol. An idol is a person or thing, blindly or excessively adored. What is it that you have untied yourself for?
