Strengthening Our Faith-Part 6

February 8, 2016

God knows us better than we know ourselves. Hebrews 12:1-3“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

The statement is that we are to lay aside the sin that so easily ensnares us. This may mean sin of any form, but especially the sin of a weak faith. Do you realize that not to have faith…to be worried or to be anxious is sin? We must guard against the notion that our brief life with Christ on earth is an easy sprint or that everything in the Christian life is easy because it is not. This is why we must guard against sin in our lives.  Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. Therefore, you and I must be in the Word of God, so that we can know what the Word of God says and we can guard against those sins that can so easily ensnares us. Our faith will grow as we grow in God’s Word!
