What It Means To Be Pleasing To God

February 7, 2014

As children of God, we are fully accepted by God because God sees us, in Christ, His Son, completely clothed in His righteousness. This is your eternal standing in heaven.

But, you might ask, what about my temporary condition on earth?

There is a sure test as to what is right or wrong for a Christian, and this test will guarantee blessing and success before God. There can be no real joy when we choose not to walk in God’s will.

So, if you desire real joy, here is a threefold test:

1.  1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Everything we do, that includes, our social life, our pleasures, our habits, and our business. If we cannot ask God’s blessing on what we do, and know it is glorifying to Him, then it is sin.

2.  1 Corinthians 10:33 – “just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.”

Everything we do and say, even our language, our home-life, our manner of dress, should not hinder others from wanting our Lord. If what we do or say hinders others from being saved, then it is sin.

3.  Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Everything we do, our thoughts, our ambitions, our entertainment, should be done in the name of Christ in order that we shall live a life pleasing to God.
