Continuous Sanctification

February 26, 2014

God said in 2 Peter 3:18 – “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To Him be the glory both now and forever.”

The secret of growing in grace is to grow in knowledge of the Lord Jesus, and to learn how to practice His presence by being continually controlled by His indwelling Holy Spirit.  To know more about Him, and to walk along with Him in your everyday life is to desire to be more like Him.

The moment we have stepped into the family of God, we are set apart for Him, and we are to grow more and more like Him.  We do not grow into sanctification, but we grow in sanctification.  We do not become saints by trying hard to be good, but we want to be good because we are already saints in God’s eyes.

2 Corinthians 3:18 – “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

The secret of increasing from glory to glory is to behold the glory of the Lord.  In other words, when we take time to study His Word and pray and learn of Him, we want to become more and more like Him.  We become saints by receiving the Savior, but we become saintly by being controlled by the Holy Spirit.

My friend, God not only saves us from the penalty of sin; He is able to save us from the power of sin.  This comes by our simply abiding Him Who is our Life!  Walk in this truth, my friend, and people will see the beauty of Jesus in you.
