My friend, God says, “Be filled with the Spirit.” This is a command, not just a suggestion. This is the normal Christian life and not just a mountain-peak experience. To be Spirit-filled is to be Spirit-controlled. But how can we be Spirit-filled?

How can a bottle be filled with air if it is filled with ink? Simply, empty out the ink! You do not have to use a pump; to pump air into the bottle, just empty it, and it is filled with air! My friend, when we empty sin from our life by confession and repentance, we are filled with the Spirit of God.

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 12:1-2 – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Picture in your mind yourself as being a glove. Picture the Holy Spirit as a hand. When you were saved, the Holy Spirit came inside of you, just like a hand goes into a glove. This means you are indwelled by the Holy Spirit forever. He will never leave you or forsake you. The question is this. Is He in you but not controlling you?

The hand in the glove determines what the glove does. Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to absolutely control you? If you are, this means you are Spirit-filled. If you are not, you are still a Christian, but you are carnal. It’s time for you to let go and let God be all that He is in you.
