Abide in Christ

December 18, 2015

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” - John 15:4-5

The Christian life is Christ Himself. He is the Christian life and He lives inside of you and me in the presence of the Holy Spirit. When we decide we cannot live the Christian life by trying harder than the rest, and when we decide to “let go and let God,” we are now at that point of getting out of the way so that the real life of the Son of God can come through us unhindered by our human frailties. Christ, by the Holy Spirit, now looks through our eyes, listens to others with our ears, speaks with our lips, loves others from our heart, serves others with our hands and walks in our steps. This is the Spirit-filled life. Everything else is man’s imitation of what he thinks a Christian looks like to others.
