What a Blast

by Berni Dymet

I Kings 22:17 Then Micaiah said, ‘I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said, "These have no master; let each one go home in peace." '

Every time I hear about the latest terrorist bomb that's gone off somewhere - the suicide bomber, the body count, the packed emergency wards - my heart aches. The senseless loss of life and the misery. It's a pain we all feel.

If only, if only there could be peace.

And not just on the international scene. It's not just the, the macro, the geopolitical forces that seem so much out of our control. But for so many people - their lives - the last word that you'd use to describe them is "peaceful". If only things could be different!

There's one time back in the Old Testament where God looks at Israel, His people, and He says "These have no master - let each one go home in peace."

You know - wouldn't that be an amazing thing, to go home in peace? To walk in, close the front door, and just have peace. Peace inside. Peace at home. Peace.

"Peace I leave you," said Jesus. "My peace I give to you."
