A Different Perspective - March 11

What is God Thinking?

by Berni Dymet

Isaiah 55:8,9  "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Some days – things just don’t make sense. Why – why did God let that happen? What was He thinking?

From time to time we all wonder that. And from our rather poor, rather clouded and foggy and limited vantage point – we think that we see things oh so clearly.

“Now if I were God – I’d have …”

Have you ever thought that to yourself?

Problem is, most of the time our perspective’s all-wrong. Most of the time – we see things through the eyes of our own needs and our own comforts, or through a distorted sense of human justice.

But God – He stands back – He sees the whole picture, the whole game, and the whole chessboard. And you and I just don’t know which bits connected to which other bit. How this random bit of suffering over here is going to bring some good over there.

So next time we’re tempted to play God, remember – we only see a miniscule part of the picture.
