A Different Perspective - July 5

Double Helping

by Berni Dymet

Psalm 69:13 But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love, answer me.

Years ago, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that God would ever, ever do anything practical in my life.  You know - help me when I needed help.

These days, I lead a very busy life - writing and producing radio programs. I travel around to speak at places. And as much as I try to have balance in my life, some days, it's not possible.

Take last night for instance. I managed to get to bed at just before midnight, and I was up again before five, to prepare programs. That's tough.

But here's how I handle it when that happens. Just before I put my head down on the pillow I pray "Lord, you know I've only got a few hours sleep tonight. And you know how sharp I need to be tomorrow. Lord, tonight, I need a double helping of rest."

And a few minutes before the alarm went off in the morning, I was awake bright eyed and bushy tailed.  Well, maybe you think I'm crazy. But that's God. That's what He does for me.
