A Different Perspective - October 9

Made to Win
by Berni Dymet

Luke 16:10-12 Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much. If then you have not been faithful with the dishonest wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you what is your own?

I used to think that I was made to win, to succeed. After all, that's the message these days. If you buy this watch - you're a winner. Buy this car or these shoes or this dress - and you're a winner.

Now as much as we'd like to believe that stuff - we know that actually it's not true. But hey, a little retail therapy never hurt anyone. No? So why are people losing their homes and their marriages and their families? Why are so many people feeling like losers - when what we really want to be is winners?

Jesus comes along and promises us two things. Firstly, if we dare to follow Him, we will have trials and tribulations in this world. That's promise number one.

And here's number two - that He came to give us an abundant life; a life really worth living.

The sort of life that the people swilling round the shopping malls can only dream of.

But what did He mean? And how does it work?
