A Daily Word - December 9

December 9

A voice is calling, "Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God.” -Isaiah 40:3

God promises the Calling Voice to herald Messiah’s appearing. We will know the Promised One because the Calling Voice will alert us. The hearing of God’s words fades after centuries of dynamic exchange between Heaven and earth. Four silent centuries creep by. Battles rage, Masada falls, the Temple is desecrated and Israel mourns. Then a voice thunders in the desert arroyos and along the lush riverbanks. The Calling Voice is right on time. Its culminating words are, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
