iPhones, BlackBerrys, and the Gospel of Christ

During church yesterday a teenager in the seats in front of us used his iPhone throughout the sermon to text friends and play checkers with his younger brother. I noticed the dad was constantly checking his BlackBerry as well. Like father, like son.

It seems to me that this is a perfect example of when technology has become an unhelpful distraction. And while we didn't say anything to the family, we wondered over lunch whether we should have. After all, the family in front of us wasn't getting all they could out of church and, given our site lines, we weren't either.

Was the most loving response silence?
