Why We Advertise
Dear Friend,
So, you noticed. Christianity.com sells advertising.
And I am often asked why. "Why do you clutter up your site with those flashing banners? Why do you distract us from the Gospel message, and encourage people to leave Christianity.com for the websites of advertisers?"
The answer is simple, actually. Because Christianity.com is more than a ministry - it is a business. And to stay in business - continuing to freely provide to listeners around the world the teaching of America's best and brightest Christian broadcasters - we have to make enough money to cover our costs. To continue ministering, we must be able to pay our employees a living wage, keep the machines which serve the website up and running, and pay our taxes and insurance and the myriad of other expenses required to maintain a viable business.
Advertisers pay to show you, the listener, their products; and the revenue we earn in partnership with advertisers allows us to continue broadcasting the Word of God freely.
Advertising is a necessity on Christianity.com, but you can rest assured that we screen our advertisers very carefully. We believe that each and every company, charity, and ministry that advertises on Christianity.com - from Compassion International to Christian Book Distributors - has something of value to offer you, the listener. And you have something to offer them.
By paying attention to the advertisers we have carefully selected, you are doing everyone a favor. You are patronizing positive companies in the Christian marketplace, and you are investing in the success of Christianity.com as we seek to spread the Gospel around the world.
So, thank you. YOU are an integral part of our ministry and community!
God's richest blessings to you and yours.
Sincerely, Rachel Barach Director of Christianity.com
"All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the Lord your God." Deuteronomy 16:17, NLT
